My new project: Captain Sorrow & Primitive Dance

Captain Sorrow & Primitive Dance is a trio:
- Aleksandar Prodanovic on percussion,
- Aleksandar Djurovic on accordion, and
- Misko Stanisic (me) on piano.

I am composing and preparing lots of new music. We are performing live, acoustic, with a little help of an iBook laptop for samples, sounds, backgrounds and effects. I’m really excited about this project!

We are planing to finish our recording during December in Stockholm, and than of to Amsterdam for mix and postproduction. The name of new album is going to be: “The Point of No Return”. More info on CS&PD website

Here is a video of Captain Sorrow & Primitive Dance performing live in Formverk, Eskilstuna, Sweden 26th October 2008. The name of the song is “Mislopad (Carevac)”

Enjoy!

An article about “Makadam” on AcousticFuel.com

An article about my album “Makadam” on AcousticFuel.com:

Although Misko Stanisic lives on the other side of the world. we were lucky to cross paths with him on the web a few years back. We are now proud to say he is not only a new Acousic Fuel Co-Op Member, but an Acoustic Fuel Approved Artist as well.

His latest release, Makadam, is a “classic” go at modern piano music. According to the composer himself, “Makadem is a type of road construction pioneered by the Scotsman John Loudon in around 1820. In many parts of Europe it’s spelled with K as maKadam (as I did). In the Balkans, where I come from, “makadam” is usually an old deserted road on the countryside. My album is a story about the memories of my former homeland, and my exodus (as a refugee from the Balkan wars in 1990’s) from the Balkans to Sweden where I found my new home.

“Mr. Stanisic’s straight solo piano performances are a sound for sore ears. When the radio is filled with electronic and synthetic musicianship, this album definitely stands apart from the rest. One of my personal favorites is “Luna Mare”, with its old fashioned simplicity and dramaticism it could actually be the backdrop of any well scored cinematic feature. While “The Horizon”, another favorite, note by note is encouraging and promotes the hope of a new day.

But at the end of my day, I must say that this music helps me to clear my head. It actually took me to a “clearing” in my own mind and helped me to direct close attention to the task at hand.

And while DJ Mister Man, on the other hand, claims it took him to more of a creative space, we’d like to hear from you. To check out a sample of Makadam, you can click here. And be sure to tell us, where does it take you?

Graffiti Street video

A new video for the “Graffiti Street” movie soundtrack. It’s a song I wrote for the documentary about my old band from 1980’s – LaBanda. Read more about the movie in my earlier post.
